Manual Machinist 1st Shift
The Manual Machinist must be able to set-up and operate manual Hardinge lathes, Bridgeport milling machines and Grinders to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, knurling, slots and drilling and tapping using rotary tables and indexing heads etc. Must be capable of trouble shooting and developing fixtures and tooling for use in short run jobs and to develop tooling for CNC Production runs as well as tool grinding as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set-up and run various machines, such as Bridgeport Mills and Hardinge Lathes, and medium size lathes, surface grinders, tool grinders.
Ensure all machined components produced meet Blueprint specifications by using appropriate measuring equipment, such as Micrometers, Vernier, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, Comparators, Vision Systems, etc.
Must be able to select suitable tooling and cutters.
Must be able read blueprints and sketches as well as take verbal instruction to determine machining to be done,
Capable of Making and repairing fixtures and tooling for Production runs
Need to be capable of producing quality surface finishes and holding tight Tolerances.
Needs to be able to troubleshoot and work with engineers on various R&D projects
Needs to be flexible.
Inspects first run piece and spot check succeeding pieces for conformance specifications.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
Technical school; or 5+ years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, workorders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems using a common-sense approach.
Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Attention to detail and ability to deal with problems.
Decision Making:
Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, technical expertise and care for employees, customers and or the work place. Evaluates potential risk.
Utilizes sound judgment in critical thinking and problem solving.
Able to provide rationale for decisions, through both written and verbal communication.
Utilizes appropriate reference materials (employee handbook, policy and procedure manuals) to respond to situations.
